1. What this page covers

This page explains the cookies and similar technologies we use on this website, what each one does, how long it lasts, and how you control it.

It covers our online store and our checkout. It does not cover other websites you reach from links on our site. Those have their own policies and we do not control them.

This page sits alongside our Privacy Policy. This page tells you what is stored on your device. The Privacy Policy tells you what we do with personal information once we hold it, and what rights you have over it. Read them together.

2. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. It lets the site remember something between one page and the next, or between one visit and the next.

Some things that are not strictly cookies work the same way. Local storage, session storage and small tracking images all put data on your device or read data from it. Where we say cookies on this page, we mean all of them.

3. Your choice, and how to change it

When you first arrive we show you a cookie banner. It asks whether you agree to cookies that are not strictly necessary.

If you say no, or if you close the banner without choosing, we set only the cookies in section 4. Nothing in sections 5, 6 or 7 is set.

If you say yes, we also set the cookies you agreed to.

You can change your mind at any time. Use the Privacy choices link in the footer of any page. Your new choice applies from the moment you make it. It does not undo what was already collected, and we say so plainly here because that is how consent works in law.

We ask everyone who visits, wherever they are.

4. Cookies we set whatever you choose

These make the site work. Without them you could not stay logged in, keep a basket, or complete a purchase. We do not ask permission for these because the site cannot function without them, and our reading of the law is that consent is not required for them. That reading is our own and is open to correction.

• _shopify_essential Holds the session and checkout information the store needs to work. One year.
• _shopify_test Checks whether your browser accepts cookies at all. One minute.
• _tracking_consent Remembers the choice you made on the cookie banner. This one exists so we can honour a no. One year.
• cart Remembers what is in your basket. Two weeks.
• cart_currency Used after a checkout finishes, to start a new empty basket. Two weeks.
• discount_code Holds a discount code if you arrived by a link carrying one. Until you close your browser.
• localization Sets your basket to the right country. One year.
• login_with_shop_finalize Used when you sign in with Shop. Five minutes.
• shopify_pay Signs you back into Shop Pay when you return to checkout. One year.
• storefront_digest Used when the store is password protected, so we can preview it. One year.

5. Cookies we set only if you agree: measuring how the site is used

These tell us how many people visit, which pages they read, and where they arrived from. We use them to make the site better. They are not necessary for the site to work, so we set them only if you agree.

• _shopify_y Recognises the same browser across visits. One year.
• _shopify_s Recognises a single browsing session. Thirty minutes.
• _shopify_analytics Holds the analytics data for the store and checkout. One year.
• _landing_page Records the first page you landed on. Two weeks.
• _orig_referrer Records the site you came from. Two weeks.
• shop_analytics Holds the information needed for analytics in Shop. One year.

6. Advertising cookies

This section describes something that is not running yet. We are writing it now so that nothing appears on your device before this page describes it.

We intend to advertise on Meta, which is Facebook and Instagram, and on Google. Both work by placing a small piece of code on the site that sets cookies in your browser. Those cookies let the advertising platform recognise a browser that has been on our site, count how many people who saw an advert went on to buy, and show our adverts to people who look like our customers.

NOT YET LIVE. As at the date at the top of this page, no Meta code and no Google code is installed on this site, and neither platform sets any cookie here. When either goes live we will update this page first, and it will only ever run for people who have agreed to advertising cookies.

7. Email and the sign-up form

We use Klaviyo to send our emails. Klaviyo can also set an identifier that links a browser to an email address, so that a basket you left behind can be mentioned in an email to you.

We treat that identifier as an advertising cookie, not a necessary one. It runs only if you have agreed to advertising cookies. If you have not, you can still join the list and we will still email you. We simply will not connect what you did on the site to your address.

Giving us your email address is a separate thing from cookies. What we do with an address once you give it is covered in the Privacy Policy.

8. Other tools on this site

Two tools on the site store a small amount of data on your device so they can do their job.

The chat window. Provided by Shopify Inbox. It remembers your conversation so the thread is still there if you move between pages or come back later.

The accessibility toolbar. Provided by AccessEase. It remembers the display settings you chose, such as larger text or higher contrast, so you do not have to set them again.

Both are there to make the site usable rather than to track you. Neither is used for advertising and neither is used to measure traffic.

9. Cookies set by Shopify

Our store runs on Shopify. Shopify sets the cookies listed in sections 4, 5 and 6 on our behalf. Our reading is that Shopify acts as our processor when it does that, and separately as a controller in its own right for some of what it collects, which is a matter between you and Shopify. That reading is ours and is open to correction.

Shopify publishes its own cookie list and its own privacy policy. Those are the authoritative source for what Shopify sets, and they can change without us knowing. If this page and Shopify's list ever disagree, tell us and we will correct this page.

10. Turning cookies off in your browser

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, in its settings. Look for Privacy, or Cookies and site data.

Two things worth knowing before you do. Blocking all cookies will stop the basket and the checkout working, so you will not be able to buy anything. And deleting cookies removes the one that remembers you said no, so the banner will ask you again.

11. How long things last

Each cookie above carries its own lifetime. That is the longest it can sit on your device before your browser drops it. You can delete any of them sooner, as in section 10.

How long we keep the information behind those cookies, once it reaches us, is a different question and is covered in the Privacy Policy.

12. Your rights, and how to complain

Cookies that identify you, or that can be linked back to you, involve personal information. That means you have rights over it: to see it, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to object to it being used. Those rights and how to use them are set out in the Privacy Policy.

If you want to complain about how we handle your information, email us first at info@tikveslondon.uk and we will look at it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, which is the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk. You do not have to come to us first.

13. Where this page sits

This page forms part of our Terms of Service and should be read with them and with our Privacy Policy.

If this page and our Privacy Policy say different things about your personal information, the Privacy Policy applies. That matches what the Privacy Policy itself says.

14. Changes to this page

We will change this page when what we do changes, and we will change it before the new thing goes live rather than after. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.

If a change means we start setting a cookie you have not agreed to, we will ask you again rather than assume the old answer covers it.
