Same grape as Primitivo and Zinfandel. The DNA was confirmed at UC Davis in 2001. It drinks the way that suggests. Bright redcurrant, cherry and brambly berries, warm and gently spicy, mouth-filling and satisfying without asking to be studied.

It suits honest cooking. Roast meats, pulled pork, moussaka, aubergine with ripe cheese. The bottle for an ordinary evening, and that is exactly why we stock it.

It does not cost much, and nothing has been cut out of it. Hand-picked, fermented in steel and left on its lees, which is where the texture comes from. You are not paying for a famous address.

The grape's oldest written mention is in the Statute of Budva, some time between 1426 and 1442, spelled Cratosia. Its proper name is Tribidrag.
