If Malbec is your usual, start here. Same dark weight, drier, with more grip. Blackberry and black cherry first, then blueberry, pomegranate and dried herbs. The tannins are firm and the finish is long. It is warm and dark and makes no apology for it.
This is a wine for food with char on it. Grilled meat, roast lamb, veal, pork, ripe cheeses. Open it when the grill is going or the oven has been on all afternoon.
Picked by hand into chilled crates, chilled again before fermenting, then two weeks on the skins in concrete and a year's rest before release. Concrete rather than oak is deliberate. What you taste is the fruit and the tannin, not the barrel.
Vranec means black stallion, and the wine drinks like the name.
